It’s quirky, cosmopolitan and nearly always sunny… Of course we can only be talking about Brighton. As well as boasting some truly exceptional tourist attractions including the love-it-or-hate-it i360, Brighton is renowned for its variety of venues. Here are a few reasons why you should book your next event in this eccentric seaside spot…
Location, location, location
Brighton is perfectly located with great rail links to London and amazing access by road. It’s also less than an hour from Gatwick and not much more from Heathrow, making conferences, corporate away-days and inbound events from overseas smooth and hassle-free. Brighton railway station is just a stone’s throw from the sea and main attractions, with taxi services running till late. This is THE location for getting around, so you can enjoy that extra cocktail without worrying about the drive home. Much of the action in Brighton is all within walking distance.
Hotels galore
Apart from having a plethora of unique and exciting event venues, Brighton offers some of the best hotels in the country, many with spectacular sea views. Wake up to a quaint British breakfast at the iconic Grand Hotel, or tuck yourself in at the Hotel du Vin in the cobbled South Lanes… There’s accommodation and conference space to suit everyone, and we always work on the best rates for you and your groups.
It’s famous!
Brighton likes to brag about its history, and it’s really no wonder – this city’s seen it all. It was the backdrop to Graham Greene’s gangster novel Brighton Rock, set in the tumultuous ‘60s, and has featured in films such as Quadrophenia (1979) and Oh! What a Lovely War (1969). Many of Brighton’s hotels are said to be haunted (cue demonic laughter), and there’s even a paranormal event, The Ghost Walk of The Lanes or if you fancy something a bit more cold-blooded, local author Peter James is the inspiration behind a range of treasure hunts themed around his stories. Fun activities like this can be added to your conference as part of your itinerary, but beware, it’s not for the faint hearted!
One for the team
Don’t panic – Brighton provides other, less spine-chilling team-building options. For thrill seekers, there’s yachting and power-boating at Brighton Marina, and for the gourmands, wine tasting, cheese tasting, food workshops and cocktail masterclasses across the city. If you’re the outdoor type, we offer walking and foraging across the South Downs, designed to test your knowledge of the natural world and ending with a pie and a pint at a country pub. There’s an amazing range of both land and sea activities to discover in Brighton, guaranteed to make your event one to remember.
Dining by the sea
We don’t think there’s a better selection of restaurants, bars and pubs by the sea than you’ll find in Brighton – but maybe we’re biased! With its rich, cultural diversity, you can get pretty much anything here, from a traditional fish n’ chips to a wheatgrass smoothie (better than it sounds, honest). We can find you your own exclusive dining area or add you to a shared party. We’ve got something to suit all budgets and group sizes.
These are just five reasons to come to our wonderful city, but there’s plenty more. We know Brighton better than the rest and want to help you make the most of it. Give us a call to find out more or discuss an enquiry on conference@brighton.co.uk
